About this Black Cat Crescent Moon Autumn Ghost Wreath embroidery pattern

Black Cat Crescent Moon Autumn Ghost Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: a curled sleeping black cat on a warm gold crescent moon, four violet-black bats, two ivory ghosts, orange pumpkins, acorns, rust oak leaves, sage-green foliage, burgundy berries, scroll vines and scattered gold stars.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. Transfer & anchor points Trace the cat and crescent first, then place the upper and lower ghosts, four bats, pumpkins, acorns, oak leaves, sage foliage, berry clusters, scroll vines and stars. Mark the outer wreath rhythm before filling any dense motif. 2. Crescent moon Outline in 729 and shade with 676, following the curved arc in long-and-short rows. Keep the decorative circles and geometric bands visible with one strand so the moon reads stitched rather than solid. 3. Sleeping black cat Build the cat with 310 and 3799, following fur direction from head around the curled back and tail. Use 3799 sparingly to reveal volume; keep whiskers, eyelids and paw separations crisp with one strand. 4. Ghosts & bats Fill ghosts mainly with 3865, adding 822 only along folds and lower edges. Use tiny 938 or 310 details for eyes and hands. Work bats in 550 with 3799 / 310 for bodies, wing veins and faces. 5. Pumpkins, acorns & foliage Shape pumpkins in 920 / 921 with radial long-and-short sections. Use 938 / 3781 for acorns; stitch rust oak leaves in 920 / 921 and sage foliage in 3012 with 934 ribs and stems. 6. Berries, stars & finish Add 221 berry clusters as compact French knots and use 3852 / 676 for small floral centers, stars and dot accents. Finish vines in 934, remove visible travel threads and press face-down on a padded towel
