About this Black Cat Crescent Bat Wreath embroidery pattern

Black Cat Crescent Bat Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: a curled black cat resting on a warm-gold crescent, six black bats, an olive-gray botanical wreath, paired small crescents, gold and cream stars, decorative scrollwork and scattered knot-like dots.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

The supplied guide labels this design intermediate. Allow time for controlled spacing and detailed areas.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. Transfer & anchors Trace the large central crescent and curled cat first, then place all six bats. Add the oval wreath, paired side crescents, stars and upper scroll ornament only after checking the spacing around the focal center. 2. Golden crescent Outline the moon in 3829, then build curved bands with 729 / 676 and softer 822 highlights. Follow the arc continuously; use narrow satin or split-stitch decorative bands to echo the visible leaf-like texture without making the moon... 3. Curled black cat Outline in 310 and fill with directional long-and-short using 310, 3799, 413 and 414. Follow fur growth around the head, back, haunch, tail and foreleg. Add only sparse 317 highlight strands so the cat remains visually black. 4. Six bats Work each bat from the outside wing edge inward with 310 / 3799 / 413. Use short satin or long-and-short fill, then add one-strand split or backstitch for wing membranes, ears and tiny facial points. 5. Wreath & ornament Stem-stitch the curling wreath in 934 / 3011 / 3012, adding 3023 to the lightest stems. Use fishbone or small satin leaves. Work the top gray scroll in 413 / 317 / 318 with tiny 729 gold joins. 6. Stars, crescents & finish Add 729 / 676 gold stars and 3865 / 822 pale stars with clean radial straight stitches. Work the small side crescents in 3865 / 822, then finish the scattered gold dots with compact French knots. Whiskers go last
