About this Black Cat Crescent Moon Autumn Berry Wreath embroidery pattern

Black Cat Crescent Moon Autumn Berry Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: curled black cat seated in a warm cream crescent, gray moon phases and tiny bats above, purple blackberry flowers / berries, olive and rust leaves, curling brown vines, rust-orange and cream pumpkins, burgundy sprigs,.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. Transfer & center Place the cat and crescent first, then mark the berry-and-leaf wreath around it. Keep equal breathing room at the top moon phases and the lower pumpkin group so the circular design stays balanced. 2. Cat & crescent Fill the cat with 310 in directional long-and-short stitches, changing angle around the head, shoulder, belly and curled tail. Build the crescent with 3865 and shade the lower / inner edge softly with 822. 3. Moon phases, bats & stars Use 317 / 3799 for the small gray phases and 3799 with 154 accents for tiny bats. Work old-gold 729 starbursts and dots last so their points remain crisp and do not disappear into surrounding vines. 4. Olive foliage & brown vines Use 934 / 936 / 3012 across the leaves, keeping fishbone stitches aligned to each central vein. Work 3371 / 801 on the curling vines and stems, preserving the open scroll shapes visible in the artwork. 5. Purple berries & autumn leaves Build berry clusters with dense 154 / 550 French knots and pale 3865 centers. Use 920 / 921 on the rust leaves and small buds, blending only where the artwork shows a softer transition. 6. Pumpkins & final accents Shape rust pumpkins with 920 / 921 and the cream pumpkins with 3865 / 822, following each rib vertically. Add dark stems, burgundy sprigs and scattered gold dots; finish by checking that the cat remains the strongest focal value
