About this Black Cat Jack O Lantern Acorn Wreath embroidery pattern

Black Cat Jack O Lantern Acorn Wreath brings botanical and gothic details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: seated black cat on a terracotta jack-o-lantern, gold facial cutouts, dusty rose and cream pumpkins, violet-and-cream acorns, sage-green leaf wreath, curling vines, gold berry dots and a dark ornamental fleur-de-lis crown.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

This watermarked preview shows the transfer drawing. Clean outlines are included in the purchased pattern PDF.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. Transfer & anchors Trace the cat, large pumpkin, wreath stems, acorns and top ornament. Mark berry dots and small pumpkin centers before stitching. 2. Wreath framework Stem-stitch the circular vines first, then add curling tendrils. Keep the ring airy and symmetrical around the central cat and pumpkin. 3. Leaves & acorns Fishbone-stitch sage leaves from midrib outward. Work acorn caps in violet satin stitches and cream nut sections in short long-and-short stitches. 4. Jack-o-lantern Build the pumpkin from darker copper at the outer ribs toward lighter copper on raised areas. Add gold facial cutouts last for crisp edges. 5. Black cat Fill the cat with compact directional long-and-short stitches, using gray highlights sparingly to suggest fur. Add eyes, muzzle and whiskers at the end. 6. Small pumpkins & finish Stitch dusty rose and pale pumpkins, then add violet/gold French-knot berries and the top ornament. Press face-down over a clean towel
