About this Black Cat Web Jack O Lantern embroidery pattern

Black Cat Web Jack O Lantern brings celestial details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: black cat seated on a carved orange jack-o-lantern, large black spider web, antique-gold crescent moon, pinecones, acorns, burgundy and ochre autumn leaves, sage and olive foliage, curling vines, small gold dots and star-like accents arranged.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Printable outline preview

This watermarked preview shows the transfer drawing. Clean outlines are included in the purchased pattern PDF.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. Transfer & anchors Trace the cat, pumpkin, web center, crescent and main wreath branches first. Mark pinecones, acorns and large leaf groups before adding small dots. 2. Web & vine framework Work the web in 1 strand from center outward, keeping spokes straight and bridge curves relaxed. Stem-stitch the surrounding vine curls without tightening the fabric. 3. Foliage, acorns & cones Fishbone-stitch olive, sage, ochre and burgundy leaves from midrib outward. Build pinecones in overlapping dark-brown scales, then add acorns with smooth satin caps. 4. Moon & pumpkin Satin-stitch the crescent along its curve. Shade the jack-o-lantern from dark golden-brown recesses through copper midtones to light orange highlights, preserving clear vertical ribs. 5. Cat Fill the cat with directional fur strokes from face and chest into flank, legs and tail. Keep the eyes clean and warm gold; add whiskers only after the surrounding fill is complete. 6. Fine finish Add the black web accents, gold dots, small stars and remaining line details last. Check symmetry, secure backs cleanly and press face-down over a padded towel
