About this Black Spider with Purple Witch Hat Moon Phases Celestial Spiderweb embroidery pattern

Black Spider with Purple Witch Hat Moon Phases Celestial Spiderweb brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: central black spider in a purple witch hat; layered spiderweb; five cream moon phases; constellation and stars; lavender wildflowers, cream umbels, golden wheat and olive botanical sprays; circular celestial border.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer and structural framework Transfer the spider, eight leg angles, pointed witch hat, layered web, five moon phases, constellation, circular border, stars, lavender flowers, cream umbels, wheat stems and olive botanical sprays before any dense fill.
  2. Main focal element Build the spider first with black and pewter long-and-short shading. Follow abdomen and thorax contours, taper each leg lengthwise, and preserve narrow pale highlights so the central body remains dimensional.
  3. Secondary large element Stitch the purple witch hat with controlled satin direction across crown and brim, then construct the spiderweb with one-strand gray spokes and curved rings. Keep the web light enough to sit behind the spider.
  4. Foliage / supporting motifs Work lavender wildflowers, cream umbels, golden wheat and olive leaves from the main stems outward. Use petal and fishbone directions that follow each form and preserve clear negative space around the spider legs.
  5. Small decorative details Add the five cream moon phases, constellation, circular double-line border, stars, cross-stars and scattered cream, gray and lavender knots. Keep the celestial marks crisp and evenly spaced around the floral frame.
  6. Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Refine spider leg joints, abdomen glints, hat band and buckle, web intersections, flower centers, wheat tips, leaf veins and moon edges. Remove transfer marks and block gently. Confirm spider first, hat and web second, then celestial and botanical ornament
