About this Gothic Candle Bats Floral Wreath embroidery pattern

Gothic Candle Bats Floral Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: a cream candle with mauve-violet melted wax, muted salmon flame, antique-gold chamberstick, three purple-black bats, a circular wreath of dusty-rose and black flowers, violet foliage and berries, three cream crescents, and scattered gold/cream stars.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. Transfer & anchors Trace the candle, chamberstick, three bats, three crescents and the circular floral framework first. Mark major flower centers and branch junctions before adding small stars or berries. 2. Candle & holder Outline the candle in split stitch; fill the cream body vertically, then build violet wax drips with rounded satin. Work the chamberstick in gold and olive- gold values, following each bowl and scroll contour. 3. Bats Establish the dark body and wing outlines, then fill the wings from outer edge toward the body with short directional stitches. Add fine wing veins last with one strand. 4. Floral wreath Work dusty-rose flowers petal by petal and black flowers in dense layered fill. Build violet leaves in fishbone stitch, keeping their center vein visible. Add berry stems before French-knot berries. 5. Moons & stars Satin-stitch each crescent along its arc with cream tones. Add gold and cream star rays with one strand, reserving tiny knots for the smallest points of light. 6. Flame & finish Build the flame in soft salmon tones around a narrow dark wick. Check that the wreath remains circular, the candle stays dominant, and all small star/berry details remain airy before pressing face-down
