About this Sleeping Bat Cat Moon Spider Wreath embroidery pattern

Sleeping Bat Cat Moon Spider Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: a curled black-and-cream bat-cat sleeping on a lavender crescent, three flying bats, four corner spider webs with spiders, gray-green curling vines, cream daisies, lavender and antique-gold stars, small crescents and scattered knot accents.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. Transfer & spacing Trace the central crescent and curled bat-cat first, then place the three flying bats. Add all four corner webs, spiders, vines, daisies and star clusters only after confirming that the negative space remains open and balanced. 2. Lavender crescent Outline with 318, then fill the crescent in curved long-and-short bands of 3041 / 3042 with lighter 318 edge accents. Keep every stitch following the moon arc and finish the rim with a neat stem, split or chain line. 3. Sleeping bat-cat Outline in 310 and map the darkest fur first. Blend 310, 3799, 413 and 414 along fur growth, then add 822 / 3865 / 3864 on the cream face, paws, chest and ear interiors. Satin the folded wing membranes cleanly. 4. Flying bats Work the three bats with 310 / 3799 / 413, using short satin or long-and-short stitches from wing edge inward. Add one-strand backstitch for ribs, ears and small body separations. 5. Webs, spiders & vines Stitch the four webs with one strand of 413 / 414 / 318, keeping spokes taut and evenly spaced. Use compact satin bodies and straight legs for spiders. Stem- stitch the curling vines in 926 / 927 / 3023. 6. Daisies, stars & finish Use 3865 / 822 for cream daisies and tiny floral knots, 3042 / 3041 for lavender flowers and stars, and 729 / 3829 for antique-gold stars and crescents. Add scattered French knots last, then trim all travel threads
