About this Sleeping Bat Crescent Autumn Floral Wreath embroidery pattern
Sleeping Bat Crescent Autumn Floral Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: sleeping purple bat nestled inside a gold crescent, encircled by rust- orange and mustard flowers, sage foliage, berry/seed knots, white buds and six flying dark bats.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- TRANSFER + WREATH SCAFFOLD Transfer crescent boundaries, sleeping-bat anatomy, six flying-bat silhouettes, main stem arcs, flower centers, leaf spines and knot clusters. Work the sage stem network first in 3011 so later leaves and flowers naturally cover junctions.
- GOLD CRESCENT Fill the crescent with stitches that follow both the outer and inner curves. Use 680 in troughs, 729 for the main gold field and 676 for narrow ridge highlights. Keep the inner edge crisp and avoid heavy padding that would distort the sleeping bat.
- SLEEPING + FLYING BATS Thread-paint the sleeping bat in 154/3740/3041 from head and shoulders outward, re-establishing facial lines and wing ribs in one strand. Work the six flying bats in 310 with narrow 3740 catches only where needed; keep them graphic and flatter than the center bat.
- RUST + MUSTARD FLOWERS Build rust daisies in 3777/920/921 with compact 3865 centers. Work mustard flowers in 680/729/676, radiating petals from the center. Use woven wheels for the small rust rosettes and keep outer petals flatter than the center.
- SAGE FOLIAGE + WHITE BUDS Fishbone leaves in 3011/3012/3013, keeping darker bases at overlaps and pale tips selective. Add white buds and flower centers in 3865/822 with tiny satin stitches or compact knots so they stay crisp rather than puffy.
- SEED KNOTS + FINAL BALANCE Add warm seed/berry knots in 920/921/729 and small ivory accent knots in 3865 last. Compare opposite wreath sectors at arm's length, keep six flying bats evenly weighted, preserve ivory gaps between clusters and steam-block from the reverse
