About this Sleeping Bat Crescent Autumn Rose Wreath embroidery pattern
Sleeping Bat Crescent Autumn Rose Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: sleeping dark bat curled inside a gold-and-ivory crescent moon, surrounded by a circular black branch wreath with rust/orange roses, sage leaves, orange/burgundy berries, small crescents, stars and dots.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- TRANSFER + WREATH FRAME Transfer crescent boundaries, bat anatomy, rose centers, branch arcs, leaf spines, berry centers and celestial marks. Work the black/brown wreath branches first in short 310/3371 stem stitches so later leaves and flowers cover joins cleanly.
- GOLD + IVORY CRESCENT Fill the outer crescent in 729/676 following both curves; keep the inner crescent in 3865/822 with stitch direction following the same arc. Blend carefully at the gold/ivory boundary and avoid heavy padding so the moon stays smooth and graphic.
- SLEEPING BAT THREAD PAINTING Work the bat from head and shoulders outward using 310/3799/413. Keep the face and closed eyes in one strand, use slightly longer stitches on wing membranes, and preserve a narrow dark outline only where the bat separates from the pale crescent.
- ROSES + BUDS Build dark rust roses with 3777/920/3802 and orange roses with 920/921, using compact woven centers or tight radial long-and-short. Keep outer petals flatter than centers. Add small rust buds after leaf placement so overlaps read naturally.
- SAGE LEAVES + BERRIES Fishbone leaves in 3011/3012 with darker bases at overlaps. Form orange berries in 920/921 and burgundy berries in 3802/3726 using compact two-wrap knots, tapering cluster density toward the stem tips.
- CRESCENTS, STARS + DOT FIELD Satin the small ivory/gold crescents in 3865/729, then radiate stars in 729/676/3865 from exact centers. Add sparse knot dots last. Check the circular wreath at arm's length and preserve open charcoal gaps between botanical clusters
