About this Spiderweb Pumpkin with Autumn Foliage and Acorns embroidery pattern

Spiderweb Pumpkin with Autumn Foliage and Acorns brings celestial details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Large rust-orange pumpkin with a pale spiderweb and dark curling stem; enclosing autumn foliage ring with oak and oval leaves, acorns, berry clusters, small pumpkins, starbursts, scrolls, dots, and tiny leaf sprigs.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 14 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

The supplied guide labels this design advanced. Allow time for controlled spacing and detailed areas.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer and structural framework - Transfer all motifs. Mark branch and pumpkin structure with 1-strand 3371/3799; keep the foliage ring circular and center open.
  2. Main focal element - Shade lobes 400 to 920 to 921 with vertical long-and-short stitches. Keep 400 in seam valleys; add the 3799 curling stem last.
  3. Secondary large element - Use 1-strand 3865/415 for the web: radial spokes first, then curved cross-lines outward with light tension.
  4. Foliage / supporting motifs - Stem branches in 3371/938. Fishbone leaves from vein to edge using brown, olive, gold, and pale-tan families.
  5. Small decorative details - Work acorns, berries, and three small pumpkins; finish 921/977 scrolls, starbursts, sprigs, and dots with restrained 1-strand accents.
  6. Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking - Sharpen web joins and veins, remove carries, block gently, and preserve a circular frame around the dominant pumpkin and web
