About this Wildflower-Crowned Skull and Spiderwebs embroidery pattern

Wildflower-Crowned Skull and Spiderwebs brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: central anatomical skull, cream-teal-rust wildflower crown, three copper spiderwebs, black bead-like knots, olive and blue-green foliage, crescent moon, starbursts and ornamental botanical scroll border.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer and structural framework Transfer the skull centerline, eye sockets and jaw, the flower crown, left and right spiderwebs plus the lower web, outer scroll border, crescent, starbursts and all major leaf stems. Keep the skull centered and preserve even negative space inside the circular frame.
  2. Main focal element Build the anatomical skull first in 3865/318/3799/310. Follow forehead, cheekbone and jaw planes, deepen the eye sockets and nasal cavity gradually, and keep teeth crisp with one-strand black and gray linework.
  3. Secondary large element Stitch the wildflower crown next: cream poppy, teal bloom, rust-orange flower, white daisies and purple thistle-like buds. Shape petals from base to tip and keep dark centers compact so the crown reads as a unified mass above the skull.
  4. Foliage / supporting motifs Work the olive and blue-green foliage around the crown and outer frame. Stitch stems first, then fishbone leaves and ornamental curls, following the circular sweep so the border remains symmetrical without becoming rigid.
  5. Small decorative details Construct the three copper spiderwebs with taut radial spokes and curved connector rows. Add black bead-like French knots, crescent moon, tiny berries, starbursts and small botanical dots only after the web geometry is stable.
  6. Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Refine skull fissures, teeth, flower veins, leaf edges and scroll tips. Add golden centers, copper glints and raised black knots last, remove transfer marks and block gently. Confirm skull first, floral crown second, spiderwebs and ornamental border third
