Printable outline preview

This watermarked preview shows the transfer drawing. Clean outlines are included in the purchased pattern PDF.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

Stitching sequence

  1. Map the doorway Split-stitch the pointed arch, columns, threshold, quatrefoil, door edges, plank divisions, and black hardware before filling any broad areas.
  2. Shade stone and doors Use pale violet-gray and pewter tones with short long-and-short stitches. Keep the stone courses directional and the door grain vertical.
  3. Work the bats Outline the bat silhouettes, then fill from body toward wing tips. Separate black bats from gray bats so the overhead cluster keeps depth.
  4. Build the ivy frame Stem-stitch curling vines upward and fishbone the ivy leaves, alternating olive and khaki shades for a natural, slightly aged effect.
  5. Add ferns and acorns Shape fern spirals with stem stitch and radiating leaflets. Work acorn caps darker than the nut bodies and keep their outlines fine.
  6. Finish tiny details Add small winged accents, straight-stitch stars, cream French knots, and final edge highlights; then inspect negative space and tension
