About this Moon Phase Crow Key Apothecary Wreath embroidery pattern

Moon Phase Crow Key Apothecary Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A twelve-position moon-phase ring, three potion bottles, herb bundles, rust clouds, stars/crescents, and a complete botanical wreath frame the bird. Value hierarchy: Deep black and black-brown define birds and moon shadows; gold/cream moons and key form the brightest accents; rust and olive greens carry the seasonal wreath. Embroidery approach: Establish circles and delicate outlines first, then the crow, moons and bottles; finish with foliage, bell flowers, berries, tiny stars and highlight knots.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

This watermarked preview shows the transfer drawing. Clean outlines are included in the purchased pattern PDF.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. Mark structure Transfer the moon circle, crow contour, bottle group, clouds and wreath stems. Backstitch the most delicate star and crescent guides first.
  2. Work the crow Outline in split stitch, then build black-to-charcoal long-and-short feather groups. Add the eye and beak last for a clean focal point.
  3. Complete moon phases Fill the twelve moon discs with cream/gold light and deep brown shadow, keeping each circular edge crisp and consistent.
  4. Stitch key, bottles & herbs Add the gold key, three potion bottles with tiny light gaps, and fine herb bundles before nearby foliage crowds the area.
  5. Build wreath & lower birds Work stems, olive leaves, rust leaves, dark bell flowers, berry knots and both small birds around the lower sides.
  6. Finish atmosphere Add rust cloud bands, tiny gold stars/dots, crescents, flower stamens and any last pale highlights; clean the reverse side
