About this Witch Hat Spider Orbital Vines Web Roses embroidery pattern
Witch Hat Spider Orbital Vines Web Roses brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: central witch-hat spider, four web pockets, looping navy orbital vine, lavender/plum/ivory roses, pale smoke, buds and a dense but airy celestial star field.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- MAP + ANCHOR Transfer every web radial, smoke curl, star center, vine crossing and rose center before filling. Work the double circular border first in 939 with one strand using 2-2.5 mm backstitches or very tight stem stitch to lock the geometry without bulk.
- VINES, WEBS + SMOKE Stitch the navy/plum orbital vines in 939/3740/3041, always keeping the working thread on the same side of curves. Lay web spokes first in 762/3024, then concentric arcs. Work smoke in one strand 415 with relaxed stem/split.
- LEAVES, BUDS + ROSES Fishbone leaves from center vein outward, changing needle angle toward each tip. Build roses as woven wheels: 3042/3743 for pale lavender, 3041/3740 for mid lavender, 154 for the deep plum rose and 3865 for the ivory rose.
- SPIDER + WITCH HAT Outline with one strand 939 split stitch. Fill hat cone and brim with 2-strand long-short or close satin, turning direction with each plane; use 3042 on the band. Feather the spider abdomen in 823/939, then add sparse 415 highlights and crisp segmented legs.
- CELESTIAL TEXTURE Use straight stitches for star rays and one-wrap knots for small dots; reserve two-wrap knots only for the largest dark beads. Keep the strongest stars in 939/310 and pale glints in 3865/762 so the open ivory field remains visible.
- FINISH + BLOCK Add 3865 only to the brightest rose/web highlights. Bury tails under existing reverse stitches, steam-block from the reverse over a towel, then re-tension so web lines remain straight and woven roses retain loft
