About this Autumn Boot Floral Harvest embroidery pattern

Autumn Boot Floral Harvest brings botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Dark brown ankle boot with buckle and lacing; burgundy chrysanthemums; dark green mums and foliage; orange and cream pumpkins; copper-gold berries and wheat; acorns, black berries, curling vines and two spiders.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Printable outline preview

This watermarked preview shows the transfer drawing. Clean outlines are included in the purchased pattern PDF.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

The supplied guide labels this design intermediate. Allow time for controlled spacing and detailed areas.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer the complete boot silhouette, buckle, laces and piping plus every flower, pumpkin, berry cluster, acorn, wheat spray, vine curl and both spiders. Keep the negative ivory fabric visible between motifs.
  2. Establish the boot first with 3371/938/898/801. Work the darkest heel, toe and folds first, then blend toward the warmer midtones; finish seams, eyelets and laces with crisp split/backstitch.
  3. Build burgundy chrysanthemums in 814/815 with layered petals radiating from each center. Work the green mums and surrounding foliage with 934/936/935, preserving clear petal direction and leaf veins.
  4. Stitch pumpkins in 920/921/922, shading each rib from dark edge to lighter center. Use 3865 for the cream pumpkin and a touch of brown for stems and shadows.
  5. Add berries, buds and wheat in 920/921/3826. Use compact knots for berry clusters, fly/lazy daisy and straight stitch for wheat and seed heads, and fishbone stitch for supporting leaves.
  6. Finish with one-strand vine curls and spider legs, 310 spider bodies and berries, acorns, tiny dots and buckle/piping highlights. Check balance and hoop clearance, then press from the reverse. FINISHING: Steam from the reverse over a towel. Avoid flattening raised petals, berry knots, padded pumpkins and the dimensional boot shading
