About this Black Boot Autumn Florals Moths embroidery pattern

Black Boot Autumn Florals Moths brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Black lace-up ankle boot; dense rust, copper, cream and dark teal flower bouquet; olive and blue-green foliage; round seedpods; four moths; crescent moon and hanging stars; circular autumn leaf-and-berry wreath.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

This watermarked preview shows the transfer drawing. Clean outlines are included in the purchased pattern PDF.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

The supplied guide labels this design intermediate. Allow time for controlled spacing and detailed areas.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer the complete black boot, central bouquet, four moths, crescent moon, hanging starbursts and circular autumn wreath. Preserve the clean ivory negative space around the boot and between wreath branches.
  2. Establish the boot with 310/3799/414. Follow the toe, vamp, shaft and sole planes with directional long-and-short shading; keep laces, eyelets, seams and outsole crisp with one- or two-strand backstitch or split stitch.
  3. Build the bouquet: rust and copper flowers in 920/921/922, dark teal flowers in 924/3768, cream petals in 822/3865, and centers or warm accents in 975/3826. Radiate stitches from each flower center and keep petal layers distinct.
  4. Work foliage and seedpods in 934/3011/3012 with fishbone, satin and stem stitch. Use 975/3826 for pod ribs, warm stems and berries; maintain a balanced fan shape above the boot opening.
  5. Stitch all four moths with 310/3799 outlines, 822/3865 pale sections, 3768 muted teal accents and 920/975 warm markings. Follow each wing section separately and keep antennae to one strand.
  6. Finish the crescent moon, hanging lines and starbursts with 3826/822/3865. Add tiny berry and pearl-like knot accents, then check wreath symmetry, boot edge clarity, bouquet depth and even open space before reverse pressing. FINISHING: Steam from the reverse over a towel. Avoid flattening flower centers, berry knots, seedpod ribs, moth texture and the directional black-to-charcoal boot shading
