About this Black Cat Crescent Moon Autumn Spider Wreath embroidery pattern

Black Cat Crescent Moon Autumn Spider Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: seated black cat over a textured cream crescent moon, circular charcoal thorn vine, sage foliage, burnt-orange / ochre / charcoal roses, three cream spider webs, mustard French-knot dots, pale green bead-like accents and scattered gray-black beads.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. Transfer & balance Center the cat and cream crescent first. Plot the charcoal thorn circle, then place the five rose clusters, three spider webs, sage leaf groups, mustard knots and bead accents so the wreath remains open and even. 2. Cream crescent Build the moon mainly with 822 and 712, adding 3865 only on the brightest ridges. Follow the arc with all long stitches, then add padded circular details and 783 French-knot texture without flattening the crescent shape. 3. Black cat Fill the cat with 310 in short directional groups that follow the fur from face, chest, flank and curled tail. Use split stitch around ears and paws and keep whiskers to one strand for a crisp silhouette. 4. Autumn roses Work burnt-orange flowers with 920 / 921 and golden flowers with 3826 / 783. Use woven wheel or compact spiral stem stitch; keep charcoal flowers in 3799 with tiny 783 centers for contrast. 5. Sage foliage & thorn vine Use 934 / 3011 / 3052 / 3053 for leaves, with fishbone stitches following each leaf axis. Work the dark wreath in 3799 stem/backstitch and add short straight- stitch thorns at the visible branch angles. 6. Webs, knots & beads Use one strand of 822 / 712 / 3865 for the three spider webs, keeping spokes taut and rings evenly spaced. Finish mustard dots with 783 French knots, pale green accents with 3348 and gray beads with 413
