About this Hanging Bat Moon Phases Teal Floral Wreath embroidery pattern
Hanging Bat Moon Phases Teal Floral Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: warm charcoal-brown upside-down bat hanging from a natural branch beneath five moon phases, framed by deep teal foliage, ivory clouds, small flowers, copper-gold starbursts and fine celestial dots.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

The supplied guide proposes 16 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

Stitching sequence
- TRANSFER + BRANCH / STEM FRAME Transfer all five lunar shapes, branch, bat axis, wing-fold boundaries, leaf spines, flower centers, clouds and star points. Work the branch first in 3781 stem/split stitch, then establish fine botanical stems before any leaf filling so junctions remain clean.
- BAT HEAD + FACE Underpad only the crown and compact muzzle very lightly. Thread-paint crown toward cheeks and throat with 3799/3781/3860, keeping 310 only in deepest recesses. Add 3778 sparingly to inner ears/nose and place eyes last with tiny 3865 catchlights.
- WING MEMBRANES Treat every folded membrane as a separate plane. Use 3799 in valleys, 413/3860 on raised planes and very little pale thread. Shift stitch direction about 25-40 degrees from panel to panel, then add crisp one-strand seams only after fills are complete.
- TEAL BOTANICALS + FLOWERS Fishbone leaves in 924/3768/926, using 924 at bases and 926 only on selected tips. Keep the foliage clearly blue-green rather than gray. Work small flowers in 3045/3865 with compact 729 knot centers and thin dark stems.
- CLOUDS + MOON PHASES Build cloud motifs from overlapping 822/3865 long-and-short bands with soft edges and no dark contour. Lightly pad only the central full moon, cover with 3865/676 satin, and work crescents along their curves in 676/729 so all lunar forms stay luminous and flat.
- STARS + FINAL BALANCE Add copper rays in 920/922 and gold rays in 729 using one-strand straight stitch, then place a few restrained knots for scattered points. Check left-right foliage density, refine facial/claw details, bury dark tails under filled motifs and steam-block from the reverse
