About this Moonlit Castle Moths Botanical Wreath embroidery pattern
Moonlit Castle Moths Botanical Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: a dark storybook castle on a pale winding mountain, olive moss, a circular wreath of blue-green, copper and olive leaves, large dark moths, smaller winged insects, hanging stars and crescent moons, warm brown cords,.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- 1. Transfer & anchors Trace the castle, mountain contours, main wreath stems, hanging cords, large moths and smaller insects first. Mark moons, stars, berry clusters and blossom positions before any dense fill is added. 2. Castle & mountain Split-stitch the castle silhouette and tower divisions. Fill roofs in black and walls in charcoal / brown-gray values. Keep the mountain mostly open fabric, defining the route and rock edges with one- to two-strand stem or split stitch. 3. Moss & ground texture Build the olive moss around the castle and along mountain ridges with French knots, colonial knots and short seed stitches. Mix 934, 936 and 3012 irregularly so the moss stays natural rather than banded. 4. Wreath stems & leaves Stem-stitch the circular branches in deep teal and brown. Work blue-green, copper and olive leaves in fishbone stitch, changing direction from the center vein outward and keeping tips sharp. 5. Moths, insects & ornaments Outline moths in split stitch, then shade wings with directional long-and-short and small satin accents. Use one strand for insect legs and antennae. Work hanging cords in stem stitch and stars / crescents with straight or compact... 6. Blossoms, berries & finish Add cream blossoms with detached chain or tiny knots and dark berries with French knots. Scatter the smallest stars last. Check that the castle remains centered, moths feel balanced around the wreath, and the mountain stays visually
