About this Raven Crescent Moon Candle Autumn Wreath embroidery pattern
Raven Crescent Moon Candle Autumn Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A crescent moon crowns the design; candles, moths, bare branchwork, ferns, autumn leaves, berries and small flowers form an airy circular frame around the bird. Value structure: Near- black values concentrate in the raven, branch creases and berry shadows. Brightest values appear in the moon, candle wax, flower petals and starbursts; copper and old-gold accents warm the perimeter. Embroidery approach: Establish the raven and branch first, then candles and moon, followed by foliage and flowers. Finish with moths, berries, stars and tiny knots so the open fabric remains clean and balanced.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- Set the major contours Transfer the raven, main branch, moon and candle silhouettes. Use 1-strand split stitch only where a firm boundary will help later fills.
- Build the raven Fill head, body, wing and tail from dark to mid gray, following feather growth. Add plum and burgundy glints sparingly to retain a mostly black bird.
- Stitch branch, moon and candles Work branch grain in layered browns, then complete the crescent and three candles. Keep wax edges clean and the flame/wick details fine.
- Add the botanical frame Work olive sprigs, fern, rust leaves and flower stems from base to tip. Stitch flowers next, keeping cream petals airy and centers compact.
- Add berries and moths Use French or colonial knots for burgundy berries and small dots. Stitch both moths with 1 strand so their wings remain delicate beside the raven.
- Finish celestial details Add stars, sparkles and final gold/copper accents. Check spacing around the raven, refine highlights, then secure all thread tails on the reverse
