About this Sleeping Black Cat Crescent Moon Autumn Wreath embroidery pattern
Sleeping Black Cat Crescent Moon Autumn Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: curled sleeping black cat on a cream crescent, two copper-orange pumpkins, sage ivy, curling vines, acorns, blackberries, oak leaves, tiny bats, stars and pale decorative scrolls.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- 1. Transfer & center Place the sleeping cat and crescent first. Mark the top and bottom pumpkins on the vertical axis, then mirror the ivy, acorn, berry, bat and star wreath around them. Keep generous ivory ground between motifs. 2. Cat & crescent Work the cat mainly in 310 with restrained 3799 directional highlights. Follow the curve of the back, tail and legs. Stitch face details in one strand. Build the crescent with 822 and 3865, following its arc. 3. Pumpkins Shade both pumpkins with 920, 921 and 922. Work each rib from stem toward base, keeping the darker copper in the valleys and the lighter copper on raised sections. Add 934 / 935 to the stems and tendrils. 4. Ivy, oak leaves & vines Use 934, 935, 3362 and 3363 for ivy and sage foliage, keeping fishbone stitches aligned to each leaf vein. Work curling vines in stem stitch. Outline the two oak leaves with 938 and soften interiors with 975. 5. Acorns, berries & small motifs Use 975 for acorn cups and 938 / 3371 for caps and outlines. Form blackberries from clustered 310 and 3799 French knots. Stitch bats in 310 and stars with single straight stitches in 975 or 938. 6. Pale scrolls & finishing Add the cream decorative curls last with 822 / 3865 so they stay clean and airy. Add the faint 3727 crescent blush sparingly. Check that the wreath remains balanced and that no dark motif visually overwhelms the cat
