About this Sleeping Black Cat Gold Crescent Floral Bats embroidery pattern

Sleeping Black Cat Gold Crescent Floral Bats brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: curled sleeping black cat with cream inner ears on a textured old-gold crescent, charcoal bats, orange and ivory daisy-like flowers, sage foliage, dark curving stems, and scattered gold stars / dots.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. Transfer & center Center the crescent and sleeping cat first, then place the circular floral branches and four bats. Mark the outer stars only after the wreath spacing is balanced so the design remains even inside the hoop. 2. Cat & facial details Fill the cat with 310 in directional long-and-short stitches, changing the stitch angle around the head, back, belly and curled tail. Use 3865 / 822 sparingly inside the ears and one strand for the tiny closed eyes, mouth and... 3. Textured gold crescent Build the crescent with 729 and 680, shading selected inner and lower areas with 3826. Follow the moon arc with split or long-and-short stitches, then add small detached-chain curls or French knots to reproduce the raised stitched texture. 4. Orange & ivory flowers Use 920 / 921 / 922 on the orange petals and 3865 / 822 on the pale daisies. Keep petals radiating from the center; work clustered 729 French knots in flower centers for the dotted texture visible in the artwork. 5. Sage leaves & dark stems Work 934 / 936 / 3012 in fishbone stitch, directing stitches from the center vein outward. Use 3021 / 3371 for the curving stems and short branch joints, keeping them fine so the foliage remains airy. 6. Bats, stars & finishing Fill the bats with 3799 and 310, using one-strand straight stitches for wing membranes. Add 729 stars and dots last, then check that the crescent stays the brightest focal mass and that fabric remains visible between all motifs
