About this Witch Hat Spider Bats Gilded Floral Scrollwork embroidery pattern
Witch Hat Spider Bats Gilded Floral Scrollwork brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A plush black spider in a pointed witch hat anchors the center. Small black and slate bats orbit it, framed by mirrored curling blue-gray vines with navy leaves. Cream, beige and old-gold flowers cluster at the upper sides and lower center, while gray foliage, tiny stars, dots and seed-like accents complete the ornamental Halloween wreath. Artwork reference - complete composition, undistorted.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- PHASES 1. TRANSFER + STRUCTURAL FRAME Transfer the spider, hat, major bats, mirrored scrollwork and lower floral bouquet first. Add the upper flower stems and larger leaf groups, then place stars and dots last on the transfer. Stitch the 930/931 scroll skeleton and main 3799 spider/hat contours in one strand before filling anything. 2. MAIN FOCAL ELEMENT Build the spider body in 310 with 3799/413 soft edge modeling. Work stitches center-outward to preserve the rounded plush form, then shape each leg segment toward its joint. Add the satin eyes, 3865 catchlights and tiny facial marks only after the body surface is smooth. 3. SECONDARY LARGE ELEMENT Fill the witch hat in 310/3799, following the cone taper and keeping the underside of the brim deepest. Add the 762/3865 band and buckle after the dark fill is complete. Keep the buckle edges narrow and crisp so it does not compete with the spider eyes. 4. SCROLLWORK + BATS Build the ornamental wreath with 930/931 stem stitch, placing 932 only on selected highlight arcs. Fishbone the 939/930 dark leaves and 414/415 pale foliage. Stitch bats in 310/3799/413 with wing strokes radiating from the body and keep their silhouettes clean against the open linen. 5. FLOWERS + GOLD BOTANICALS Work cream blossoms in 712/3865 with 739/422 shadows near petal bases. Use 3829/729 for the warm gold flowers, seed sprays and selected leaves, keeping the deepest gold nearest centers and stem junctions. Finish centers with tiny knots or short radial stitches. 6. FINAL DETAILS + BLOCKING Add one-strand leaf veins, small 932/414 stars, 729 gold starbursts and isolated gray/gold dots. Recheck bilateral balance of the large scroll curls, sharpen spider leg joints and bat wing points, bury all tails away from pale flowers, then steam lightly from the reverse and block the wreath perfectly round
