About this Autumn Apothecary embroidery pattern
Autumn Apothecary brings celestial and witchy details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Needles: No. 9-10 label lettering, stars and vine curls; No. 7-9 bottles/leaves/pumpkins; No. 5-7 padded acorns and textured corks. Strands: 1 label text/stars/vines; 1-2 bottle outlines and foliage; 2 pumpkins/liquid fills; 2-3 acorn caps, corks and raised berries. Motifs: Four vintage apothecary bottles framed by oak leaves, curling vines, rust berries, pumpkins, acorns and scattered gold starbursts.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 CM HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- 1. TRANSFER + BOTTLE SPACING Transfer the four bottles first and keep their bases aligned. Add the outer wreath only after bottle widths and neck spacing are correct; then mark pumpkins, acorns, curls, berries and starbursts so the frame stays balanced. 2. OUTLINES + LABELS Work bottle contours in 310 with one strand, using stem or split stitch and avoiding heavy black buildup. Backstitch label lettering last with very short stitches; keep the cream label centers open and readable. 3. POTION FILLS + GLASS DEPTH Shade the orange bottle with 920/921/922, the deep red-brown bottle with 3371/938/801, the olive bottle with 3011/3012/3051 and the darkest bottle with 3371/938/801. Follow the bottle curve and leave narrow light gaps to suggest glass. 4. CORKS + BOTTLE NECKS Build corks from 938/801 into 3828 highlights using compact satin or tiny long-short stitches. Keep neck rings crisp in 310/3371 and use 3865 only for tiny light-catching accents, not broad white outlines. 5. PUMPKINS + AUTUMN FOLIAGE Shade pumpkins with 920/921/922 from darker grooves to lighter ridges. Fishbone oak leaves in 3051/3052, 3011/3012 and 920/921/922, maintaining distinct sage, olive and copper families around the wreath. 6. ACORNS, BERRIES + GOLD DETAILS Use 938/801 for textured acorn caps and 3828 for bodies. Add rust berries mainly in 920/921 as French knots. Finish gold dots and starbursts with 3829/729, then add fine vine curls and leaf veins so they remain clean. FINISHING & PRESSING NOTES Keep the ivory linen open between bottles and wreath. Press from the reverse over a padded towel so corks, acorn caps, French knots and pumpkin ribs stay dimensional and label lettering remains crisp
