About this Candle Spell Books embroidery pattern

Candle Spell Books brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Three antique stacked books with ivory page blocks; central ivory candle and gold flame; silver-gray crescent moon; dark bat; oak-leaf wreath with acorns, pinecones, warm rust leaves, small stars and scattered knot dots.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Printable outline preview

This watermarked preview shows the transfer drawing. Clean outlines are included in the purchased pattern PDF.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

The supplied guide labels this design intermediate. Allow time for controlled spacing and detailed areas.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer the full three-book stack, candle and holder, crescent filigree, bat, every oak branch, acorn, pinecone, star and scattered dot. Keep the open ivory fabric between wreath elements.
  2. Work one-strand detail first: crescent outlines and internal curls, tiny stars, fine page lines and the thinnest twig extensions. Keep curves short and even.
  3. Build the book stack from darkest values upward. Use 3799/939/310 for cool covers, 420/841/729 for warm leather sections, and 3865/822/3033 for page blocks and highlights.
  4. Work the candle with lightly padded 3865 and 822 shading. Add flame and holder accents in 729/680, keeping the wick and flame point narrow and crisp.
  5. Stitch the bat in 939/3799 with split outlines. Work oak leaves in fishbone stitch, varying 729/680/841/918/920/3781 to keep the wreath naturally autumnal rather than flat.
  6. Finish acorns, pinecones, stars and knot dots last. Recheck moon symmetry, book alignment, candle verticality and balanced dark values before pressing from the reverse. FINISHING: Steam from the reverse over a towel. Do not flatten padded candle wax, pinecone texture, raised acorn caps or French/colonial knots

Your purchase opens a private Google Drive folder containing the three listed PDFs. The clean outline is inside the main pattern PDF. The gridded image reference is separate from the surface-embroidery drawing and is not a machine embroidery file or a symbol-by-symbol DMC cross-stitch key.

Download access appears after payment is confirmed, with recovery available through the purchase email. See the delivery policy for access and support details.
