The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Large ornate apothecary bottle filled with pale sparkling potion at center; three small side bottles; lavender and rosemary-like herb wreath; black feathers; plum and gold crescent phases; gold stars and celestial dots.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer and structural frameworkTransfer the large central vessel, three side bottles, paired herb sprays, lavender spikes, black feathers, crescent phases and star field. Establish bottle contours and the botanical skeleton first with 154/3371 using 1 strand, keeping the circular wreath open and balanced around the central glass form.
  2. Main focal element Shade the central apothecary bottle with 841 and 3865, following the curved glass contours so highlights remain transparent and symmetrical. Build the pale potion and sediment with 841/729/676 plus sparse 3865 sparkles, then overlay the ornate 154 scrollwork and neck band so the decoration sits crisply on top of the glass.
  3. Secondary large element Complete the three smaller bottles next: use 838/3371 for the amber vessel and corks, 841/3865 for clear glass, and 154/3041 for plum liquid and outlines. Keep highlights narrow, place darker tones along lower edges and bottle shoulders, and reserve label details for 1- strand work after the fills are stable.
  4. Foliage / supporting motifs Work rosemary, sage-like leaves and fine herbs in 934/935/3364 with 3011/3012 olive transitions. Use stem stitch for branches and fishbone for leaves, directing each leaf away from the stem; add lavender in 3041/3042 with small lazy-daisy and straight stitches so the purple spikes stay airy rather than bulky.
  5. Small decorative details Stitch the black feathers in 310 with fishbone stitches radiating from crisp 1-strand shafts. Add plum crescents in 154, gold crescents and stars in 729/676, then place tiny gold French knots and straight-stitch sparkles around the wreath, varying density so the central bottle remains dominant.
  6. Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Add 3865 glass glints and potion sparkles last, reinforce selected 154 scroll edges and 3371 amber shadows, and sharpen 3364/3012 leaf tips. Check that lavender, feathers, moons and bottles form an even circular rhythm; keep knots rounded and bottle highlights continuous, then block from the reverse with minimal pressure on raised details
