About this Celestial Autumn Moth Candle Wreath embroidery pattern
Celestial Autumn Moth Candle Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Large black-and-gold celestial moth; crescent moons, stars and dots; autumn leaf wreath in rust, olive and brown; black, rust and cream candles with warm flames.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.
Color and stitch guidance
The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.
The supplied guide labels this design intermediate. Allow time for controlled spacing and detailed areas.
Stitching sequence
- Transfer the moth silhouette, wing markings, antennae, wreath stems, major leaf shapes, candle outlines, flames and principal stars. Keep the moth centered with even ivory breathing room around the wings.
- Establish the moth in 310/3371 with split or backstitch around the wing edges, then build smooth black fields with directional long-and-short stitch. Add the pale outer wing spots in 822/3865 without crowding the border.
- Work the gold celestial markings in 729/3820: satin stitch for crescents and larger spots, straight stitch for star rays, and French or colonial knots for tiny round dots. Use one strand for the finest constellation lines.
- Build the wreath from dark to light. Use 801/975/920/921/922 for rust and brown leaves, and 934/936/3012 for olive leaves. Follow each leaf midrib with fishbone or long-and-short stitch and keep stems narrow.
- Stitch the candles in 310, 920 and 822, shaping the cylindrical bodies with vertical or gently curved satin/long-and-short stitches. Add dark edge shadows, then work wicks in 3371 and flames with 920/921/922/3820.
- Finish with scattered gold stars and knots, inspect symmetry across the wreath, secure all short carries behind open ivory areas, then reverse press over a towel so knots and padded fills remain dimensional. FINISHING: Steam from the reverse over a towel. Protect raised knots and keep the moth wing texture, candle flames and leaf relief from flattening
