About this Celestial Crescent Key and Woodland Potion Bottles embroidery pattern
Celestial Crescent Key and Woodland Potion Bottles brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Central ornate crescent key with silver-charcoal metalwork and inner gold moon; cream and deep-blue potion bottles; rust woodland mushrooms; sage and olive branches with rust berries; black bats, gold moons, stars and dotted constellations.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- Transfer and structural frameworkTransfer the vertical key axis first, then position both potion bottles, lower mushroom clusters, left and right botanical branches, major bats, moon phases, starbursts and constellation paths. Establish the key silhouette in one strand 310/3799 and the main stems in 3371/3011 before filling large shapes so the circular balance remains even.
- Main focal element Build the crescent key from dark to light: 310/3799 in the outer contour and deepest scroll recesses, 414 through the crescent and shaft midtones, then 318/822 as narrow highlights. Follow the crescent arc with long-and-short stitches and keep the shaft vertical; add 3828/3852 warm accents only after the cool metal is stable.
- Secondary large element Work the paired bottles next: use 822 with 3371/3828 for the pale left bottle and label, and 3750 with 310/318 for the deep-blue right potion bottle. Keep bottle satin stitches vertical, curve shading around the shoulders, stitch corks in 801/3828, then outline labels and necks with one strand for clean glass definition.
- Foliage / supporting motifs Stitch sage and olive branches in 3011/3012/3013 using fishbone leaves from base to tip and stem stitch for woody lines. Build rust berry and dark flower stems with 3371, then add 921/922 French-knot berries. Model the lower mushrooms with 801 shadows, 921 bodies and 922 highlights, keeping cap stitches curved over each dome.
- Small decorative details Add gold moon phases and stars in 3828/3852, black bats in 310, and dotted constellations with 3828 plus one-strand straight connectors. Scatter small rust and gold knots sparingly around the outer ring, add short 3011/3013 grass blades at the base, and preserve open linen between motifs so the central key remains dominant.
- Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Sharpen key teeth, bottle rims and bat silhouettes with selective 310/3799 backstitch; add 318/822 metal and glass glints, 922 mushroom and berry highlights, and 3852 star tips last. Confirm the key reads first, bottles second, woodland base third and celestial marks remain light before reverse blocking
