Celestial Moon Garland Cloud Wreath

Hand embroidery pattern PDF

US$2.00

Large rust, cream and charcoal moons form a loose circular orbit. Four pale outlined clouds create breathing space between the denser celestial elements. Value structure: Deep charcoal moons and starbursts are the darkest values; rust/ copper moons supply the strongest warm midtones; cream clouds and the pale hanging moon are the brightest stitched areas. Embroidery approach: Keep clouds and most stems as fine linework, while moons receive compact satin or long- and-short filling. Use slightly raised knots only for the small floating dots and berry-like accents.

About this Celestial Moon Garland Cloud Wreath embroidery pattern

Celestial Moon Garland Cloud Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Large rust, cream and charcoal moons form a loose circular orbit.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Printable outline preview

This watermarked preview shows the transfer drawing. Clean outlines are included in the purchased pattern PDF.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

Stitching sequence

  1. Establish the fine framework Transfer and stitch cloud outlines, hanging strings, garland stem and the smallest star guides first with 1 strand.
  2. Work the darkest celestial forms Fill the charcoal crescents and lower dark full moon, then add dark starbursts so the value anchors are established.
  3. Add rust and copper moons Stitch the warm upper full moon, top crescents and hanging copper moons with directional satin or long-and-short stitches.
  4. Build the garland foliage Add olive and copper leaves, keeping fishbone stitches aligned with each leaf and avoiding bulky overlaps on the central stem.
  5. Complete pale clouds and cream moon Finish the clouds as fine linework and fill the pale hanging moon with cream; add any soft tan shadow only where visible.
  6. Finish stars, knots and cleanup Add radiating stars, tiny French-knot dots and warm accent specks. Check reverse-side travel paths and edge smoothness before removing from the hoop
