About this Celestial Moth Bats Floral Wreath embroidery pattern
Celestial Moth Bats Floral Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Large celestial moth with moon-phase wings; four black bats; gold stars and crescents; burgundy and deep-green botanical vines with berry-like gold knots.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.
Color and stitch guidance
The supplied guide proposes 15 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.
The supplied guide labels this design intermediate. Allow time for controlled spacing and detailed areas.
Stitching sequence
- Transfer the full moth silhouette, wing panels, moon phases, antennae, four bats, main vine stems, leaf shapes, crescents, stars and principal gold dots. Keep the moth centered and preserve clear ivory spacing between motifs.
- Establish the moth in 310/3371/938 with split or backstitch around the wing edges, then build smooth black fields using directional long-and-short stitch. Shade the body with 869/420 and keep the fuzzy thorax texture slightly raised.
- Work the wing moon phases and celestial bands in 822/3865 with compact satin stitch. Add 729/3820/3821 for gold borders, stars and dots, using straight stitch for rays and French or colonial knots for round accents.
- Stitch the four bats in 310 inside a fine one-strand split outline. Angle the fill stitches from body to wing tips so the silhouettes stay sharp; reinforce tiny ears and wing notches with short straight stitches.
- Build the botanical wreath with 814/815 burgundy and 934/936/3051 deep greens. Use stem stitch for curling vines, fishbone or long-and-short stitch for leaves, and keep each leaf tapered cleanly at the point.
- Finish with gold crescents, scattered stars and knot clusters. Check left-right balance, secure carries behind dense areas only, trim jumps around the ivory ground, then reverse press over a towel to preserve wing and knot relief. FINISHING: Steam from the reverse over a towel. Protect raised gold knots and keep the moth body texture, crisp bat silhouettes and leaf relief from flattening
