About this Ghost Rip Tombstone Pumpkin Wreath embroidery pattern

Ghost Rip Tombstone Pumpkin Wreath brings botanical and gothic details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Draped ghost; dark arched RIP tombstone with skull emblem; two lower skulls; 3 orange pumpkins; rose-like orange bloom; leafy circular wreath,.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied guide proposes 16 DMC colors. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

Stitching sequence

  1. 1. TRANSFER + STRUCTURAL FRAME Transfer the tombstone arch, RIP baseline, ghost contour, skulls and full wreath arc first. Work major vines in 1-strand 3051/3011 stem stitch, keeping curls loose and the circular negative space even. 2. TOMBSTONE + CARVED DETAILS Fill the stone with 413/414 in mostly vertical long-and-short strokes; deepen arch and base with 3799 and reserve 318 for worn highlights. Add the skull emblem and RIP last in 318/3012 so the lettering remains readable but not brighter than the ghost. 3. GHOST + LOWER SKULLS Use 3865 for the pale body, following cloth flow from crown into each hanging fold. Shade undersides sparingly with 822/318. Work lower skulls in the same ivory family, then add 310 sockets, noses and tooth divisions with one strand. 4. PUMPKINS + ORANGE ROSETTE Build each pumpkin rib separately from 920 shadows through 921 to 3854 highlights, with stitches curving from stem to base. Work the lower orange flower as a compact woven wheel in 920/921; keep it dimensional but smaller than the pumpkins. 5. FOLIAGE + BERRIES + STARS Fishbone leaves in 3051/3052 and 3011/3012 from base to tip; keep stems fine. Add 3829/3852 gold knots and 920/921 orange knots after foliage. Finish stars with straight/satin stitches so they sit flat against the fabric. 6. FINAL DETAILS + BLOCKING Stitch vine curls, tiny black stars, berry stems and isolated highlights last. Recheck the dark tombstone against the pale ghost, balance pumpkin weight across the upper right, bury tails away from ivory fills, then steam-block lightly from the reverse
