Moon Phase Crow Autumn Rose Wreath

Hand embroidery pattern PDF

US$2.00

A forked dark branch supports the bird, while the surrounding wreath alternates rust roses, charcoal roses, sage leaves, mustard berry clusters, red buds and small cream flowers. A five-part lunar sequence and starbursts occupy the open sky above. Value structure: Black and very dark pewter define the crow, branch and charcoal roses. Rust and copper warm the roses and lunar disks; sage greens soften the wreath; old-gold berries and stars provide the strongest warm highlights. Embroidery approach: Establish fine branch and wreath structure first, stitch the crow as the primary filled motif, then add roses and foliage. Finish the lunar arc, berries, stars and tiny blossom accents after the dense dark areas are complete.

About this Moon Phase Crow Autumn Rose Wreath embroidery pattern

Moon Phase Crow Autumn Rose Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A forked dark branch supports the bird, while the surrounding wreath alternates rust roses, charcoal roses, sage leaves, mustard berry clusters, red buds and small cream flowers.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Printable outline preview

This watermarked preview shows the transfer drawing. Clean outlines are included in the purchased pattern PDF.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Color and stitch guidance

The supplied PDF contains the design's DMC color suggestions and stitching guidance. Compare important shades with real floss under your working light.

Stitching sequence

  1. Establish the line framework Transfer the crow silhouette, branch forks, rose centers, major wreath stems, moon positions and stars. Backstitch only fine structural lines before filling.
  2. Build the crow Work head and breast first, then layer wing coverts and tail. Use 310 in recesses, 3799 for the main body and 413 sparingly on raised feather edges.
  3. Complete branch, feet and claws Stitch the branch along its grain with dark brown/charcoal values, then add the one-strand legs, toes and claw curves cleanly over the branch.
  4. Stitch the major roses Work rust roses in 3857/921/3778 and charcoal roses in 310/3799/413, turning stitches around each spiral petal ring for dimensional folds.
  5. Fill leaves, buds and berries Add sage foliage with fishbone stitch, then red buds, mustard French-knot berries and the small cream blossoms. Preserve open fabric between clusters.
  6. Finish the lunar arc and details Fill the orange and cream moon phases, add old-gold stars and scattered dots, then check feather edges, color balance, tension and reverse-side thread travel
