About this Pumpkin Carriage embroidery pattern
Pumpkin Carriage brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Central orange pumpkin carriage with windows and ornate green wheels; black night arch, crescent moon, stars and bats; circular wreath of burgundy, gold and green leaves, acorns, berries and black flowers.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 CM HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- 1. TRANSFER + STRUCTURE Transfer the pumpkin carriage, wheel circles, window/door shapes and night arch first. Add the large wreath branches and leaf clusters next; mark bats, stars, berries, acorns and pumpkin dots last. 2. NIGHT ARCH + BATS Fill the night arch densely in 310, keeping its lower edge clean around the crescent. Work bats in one strand of 310 with 3799 feathered into wing interiors so the silhouettes stay dark but still show direction. 3. PUMPKIN CARRIAGE Build each pumpkin segment in directional long-and-short: 919 in the grooves, 920 through the body and 922 on the ridges. Keep 3865 dots crisp; outline windows and decorative door ironwork in 310. 4. WHEELS + VINES Stem stitch wheel curls and carriage vines in 3011, blending into 3012/3052 where lighter. Keep stitch direction following each spiral so the wheels read as graceful botanical scrolls rather than filled circles. 5. AUTUMN WREATH Fishbone green/gold leaves in 3011/3012/3052 and 729/3829. Shade burgundy oak leaves with 814 into 815, then add leaf veins and branch lines in 3829/801 for definition. 6. BERRIES + ACORNS + CELESTIALS Use 919/920/922 French knots for orange berries and 814/310 for dark berries. Satin acorns in 420/801 with 3829 caps. Work moon and stars in 729, reserving 3865 for the palest pinpoints and pumpkin highlights. FINISHING & PRESSING NOTES Preserve open ivory linen between wreath clusters and around the carriage curls. Press from the reverse over a padded towel so raised berries, pumpkin ridges and flower centers keep their relief
