About this Skeleton Hand Crescent Moon Mystic Smoke embroidery pattern
Skeleton Hand Crescent Moon Mystic Smoke brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A tall skeletal hand rises from a narrow forearm toward a large gold crescent moon. The moon is wrapped in plum leaves and pale botanical texture. Broad gray-green and violet smoke ribbons coil around the hand, while delicate side vines, gold stars, black dots and small starbursts fill the open ivory ground. Artwork reference - complete composition, undistorted.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- PHASES 1. TRANSFER + STRUCTURAL FRAME Transfer the hand and forearm, crescent, large smoke ribbons, major leafy sprays and principal stars. Establish the skeletal silhouette in one-strand 310 split stitch and the main smoke/vine curves in 3799/522/3740. Do not add tiny dots, gold knots or minor starbursts yet. 2. SKELETAL HAND + FOREARM Build the central focal form first. Fill shadowed bone edges and joint recesses in 154, move through 3740 and 3041, then add restrained 3042 highlights. Stitch lengthwise along each bone, changing direction at joints. Keep narrow finger gaps clean and reinforce 310 separations last. 3. CRESCENT MOON + LEAF GARLAND Work the crescent in 3829 at the inner curve, 729 through the body and 3822 along the light-facing rim, following the arc with short satin stitches. Add the attached plum leaves in 154/3740/3041, stitching from leaf base toward tip so each point remains distinct. 4. SMOKE RIBBONS Build the large curling smoke with 522/523/524 and selected 3041/3042 violet bands. Follow every S-curve with long-and-short stitches, leaving ivory channels between nested ribbons. Use 3799 only on selected shadow edges; the smoke should stay lighter than the hand. 5. SIDE VINES + BOTANICAL SUPPORT Complete the left and right sprays with 3740 plum stems and 522 green stems. Fill foliage in 522/523/524 fishbone stitch and keep the outermost tips fine. Add curled plum tendrils with one-strand stem stitch, preserving open fabric around the central composition. 6. STARS + GOLD KNOTS + FINAL DETAIL Add 310 starbursts, crosses and scattered seed dots; then place 729/3822 gold stars and compact French knots. Use 3865 only on the brightest sparkle points. Check finger articulation, moon arc, smoke spacing and overall balance, then remove transfer residue and block from the reverse
