About this Sleeping Ghost Crescent Potion Bottles Herbal Wreath embroidery pattern

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. PHASES 1. TRANSFER + STRUCTURE Transfer the crescent, ghost, five bottles, major botanical stems, larger leaves and all moon-phase symbols. Mark liquid levels inside each bottle but leave tiny berries and gold dots for later placement. Stitch the 3799 bottle outlines and 3011 stem framework first so the lower wreath keeps its intended width and rhythm. 2. CRESCENT FOUNDATION Work the crescent outline in 3799, then shade 3740 into the deepest outer curve and blend through 3041 to 3743 along the upper-facing areas. Fill the narrow inner rim with 834 moving into 729. Keep stitch direction tangent to the arc; the moon should read rounded before the ghost is added. 3. SLEEPING GHOST Fill the ghost in 3865 from the head downward, curving stitches around the cheeks, arms and draped tail. Add only narrow 822 shadows under the arms and lower folds. Finish the black/dark facial lines and 223 blush marks last so they remain fine and sit cleanly on the pale fill. 4. POTION BOTTLES Complete the five bottle contours in 3799/310, then fill the liquids: 3740/3041 for smoky violet, 3727/223 for blush mixtures and 414 for gray transitions. Keep liquid surfaces level and glass highlights narrow. Work corks with 834/729 and 223 where pink stoppers appear, adding short seed stitches for grain. 5. HERBS + FLORAL CLUSTERS Build olive foliage with 3011/3012/3013 fishbone leaves, then add lavender sprays in 3740/3041, rose buds in 3727/223 and plum berries in 154. Place gold seed heads in 729/834. Vary knot size and leaf angle so the side branches rise naturally instead of forming rigid mirrored blocks. 6. MOON PHASES + FINAL DETAILS Finish the top and lower phase symbols in 3740/3041, 3727/223 and 729/834, then add scattered gold French knots and any missing berry accents. Refine thin stems, remove transfer marks and block from the reverse over padding so corks, buds and knots retain their relief while bottle glass and crescent shading stay flat
