About this Sleeping Rabbit on Crescent Moon with Bats Spiderwebs embroidery pattern

Sleeping Rabbit on Crescent Moon with Bats Spiderwebs brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A large warm brown crescent cradles a sleeping long-eared rabbit at center. Four pale corner spiderwebs frame the hoop, while lavender and gray bats float around the moon. Gold-brown and lilac starbursts, crosses and knots create a sparse celestial field. No distinct spider is visible; the web structure carries that motif. Artwork reference - complete composition, undistorted.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. PHASES 1. TRANSFER + COMPOSITION FRAME Transfer the three crescent arcs, rabbit silhouette, four corner webs, all bats and the larger starbursts. Mark only a few guide points for tiny dots. Establish the moon in one-strand 3021/3781 stem stitch and set the web radial spokes in 3866 before adding any dense fills. 2. CENTRAL CRESCENT Complete the nested crescent contours with 3781, 729 and selective 680/3822 highlights. Keep each arc smooth and evenly spaced, with the warmest value concentrated toward the lower cradle where the rabbit rests. Avoid over-thickening the tips so both points stay elegant. 3. SLEEPING RABBIT Build the rabbit from light 822/644 into 642 and 3790 shadows. Direct stitches with the fur: forehead to muzzle, shoulder to flank, and ear base toward the tips. Keep the face soft; add 3021 eye, nose and tiny toe divisions last so the animal remains gentle rather than heavily outlined. 4. SPIDERWEBS Finish each web with fine 3866/822 curved connectors, working from the outer perimeter toward the center. Keep tension relaxed so the long bars do not pucker the linen. Vary a few intervals slightly, but preserve the clean corner framing and large open center around the moon. 5. BATS + CELESTIAL COLOR Fill lavender bats with 3740/3041/3042 and gray bats with 642/3790/3021. Direct stitches from each body outward through the wing panels. Keep the upper pale bat lightest, side bats mid-value, and the darker gray bat compact so no bat competes with the rabbit. 6. STARS + KNOTS + BLOCKING Add 680/729/3822 gold starbursts, 211/3042 lavender stars and crosses, then scatter small French knots in 729, 680, 3041 and 822. Check that open fabric still dominates the field. Remove transfer residue and block gently from the reverse so the webs and moon arcs remain smooth
