About this Smiling Pumpkin with Crescent Moons Clouds Stars and Autumn Leaf embroidery pattern

Smiling Pumpkin with Crescent Moons Clouds Stars and Autumn Leaf brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Smiling pale pumpkin with layered autumn leaves; repeatinggray, cream and black crescent moons; lavender-grayclouds; starbursts, tiny butterflies, gold knots and curvedcelestial accents arranged in a full circular ring.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer and structuralframework Transfer the pumpkin silhouette, principal grooves, face, leafcluster, moon-and-cloud ring, black curved accents, stars, butterflies and knot positions before dense stitching; verify thecircular spacing before filling.
  2. Main focal element Build the smiling pumpkin first, shading each pale panel in thedirection of its curve and keeping the copper-brown groove linesslim. Add the face only after the panel fills are smooth andsymmetrical.
  3. Secondary large element Establish the complete celestial ring with the large gray, creamand black crescents plus the repeating lavender-gray cloudgroups; maintain even spacing and consistent moon scalearound the hoop.
  4. Foliage / supporting motifs Work the layered autumn leaves behind the pumpkin from stemsoutward in fishbone and long-and-short, alternating tan, rust andbrown families to preserve separation between overlappingleaves.
  5. Small decorative detailsAdd starbursts, butterflies, cloud rain-lines, gold-brown knots andblack arc accents. Keep these fine marks at one strand so thecelestial ring remains airy rather than crowded.
  6. Final accents, dimensionaldetails, cleanup, andblocking Refine pumpkin symmetry, groove continuity, moon edges andcloud banding; secure knots, remove transfer residue, press fromthe reverse and block while protecting raised knots and leaftexture
