About this Candlelit Books with Midnight Florals and Celestial Wreath embroidery pattern

Candlelit Books with Midnight Florals and Celestial Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Three stacked celestial books, upright candle and smoke, double botanical wreath, rosette flowers, berry clusters, leaves, moons, stars, and scattered dots.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer and structural frameworkCenter the book stack first, then map the candle, smoke arcs, and full wreath circle. Establish the outer vine in 500 with 1-strand stem stitch and lightly backstitch the three book silhouettes so later fills do not distort the geometry.
  2. Main focal element Build the three-book stack from back to front. Shade the top book with 500/501, the middle with 310/3799, and the lower rust volume with 301/400/3776; keep page blocks in 822/738 and place 3865 only on the brightest page ridges.
  3. Secondary large element Stitch the candle after the books so it sits clearly on top. Model wax ridges with 822 to 3865 long-and-short stitches, place 3826 and 3776 in the flame, and work the olive smoke curls in 830/831 with relaxed curve-following stem stitch.
  4. Foliage / supporting motifs Complete the wreath with 500/501/502 teal leaves and 830/831 olive leaves. Use fishbone direction from the central vein outward, then add berry sprays with clustered French knots so the wreath frames the books without overpowering them.
  5. Small decorative details Add rosette flowers with woven wheels in 500/501 and 310/3799, then stitch moons, stars, book symbols, and warm dot constellations in 301/3776/3826. Keep the smallest stars single-strand and place knots only after nearby linework is finished.
  6. Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Sharpen selected book edges with 1-strand 310, reinforce teal leaf highlights with 502, add the brightest candle/page touches in 3865, and check that warm copper accents remain secondary. Block from the reverse so the wreath stays circular and the stacked books remain square
