About this Ivory Crescent, Burgundy Roses and Blackberries embroidery pattern

Ivory Crescent, Burgundy Roses and Blackberries brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Large ivory celestial crescent with stitched craters, wrapped green vine, burgundy/black/cream roses, blue-black berries, sage leaves, mini moons and gold stars.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer and structural frameworkTransfer the large crescent first, then the circular botanical wreath, rose centers, berry clusters, and tiny celestial accents. Establish the outer vine with 1 strand 3051/3363 and lightly map the crescent edge with 738 so later fills stay inside a clean silhouette.
  2. Main focal element Work the ivory celestial crescent before the surrounding flowers. Use 2-3 strands of 712 in short contour-following long-and-short rows, reserve 3865 for the brightest outer rim and raised motifs, and place 738 in the inner curve, crater pockets, and under the crossing vine. Add 3829 stars and small lunar marks only after the fill is smooth.
  3. Secondary large element Build the wreath roses next, starting with the largest burgundy blooms. Place 154 in the deepest spiral centers and under overlapping petals, grade through 3834 and 3740 toward exposed edges, and use 310/3371 only in the black roses so they remain visually distinct rather than merging with the burgundy flowers.
  4. Foliage / supporting motifs Add sage leaves and the long stems beneath the flower heads. Work 3051 at leaf bases and overlaps, 3052 through the main leaf bodies, and 3363 in veins and slender stems. Direct fishbone stitches outward from each midrib and let the vine visibly pass in front of the crescent in the few crossing areas.
  5. Small decorative details Finish the blackberry and plum berry clusters, cream buds, gold stars, and tiny crescent moons after the large motifs are stable. Use compact 823/939 French knots for the blue-black berries, 154/3834 for plum clusters, and 3829 in single-strand straight stitches so the star field stays airy.
  6. Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Sharpen only selected petal creases and vine joins with 1 strand 310 or 3051, then add final 3865 highlights to the cream roses and crescent. Check berry spacing, remove transfer marks, and block from the reverse so the circular wreath stays round and the dense lower flowers do not pull the fabric
