About this Ghost Tombstone Autumn Moths embroidery pattern
Ghost Tombstone Autumn Moths brings celestial and ghosts details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Ghost over arched gray tombstone; moss patches; 3 orange-gold moths; hanging crescents/stars; encircling foliage, berries and dotted lights.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- 1. TRANSFER + STRUCTURAL FRAME Transfer the arched stone, ghost edge, wreath arc and hanging cords first. Work cords/branches in 1-strand 310/3051 with stem or backstitch; keep curves relaxed so the circular frame stays open. 2. TOMBSTONE + MOSS Fill stone with 413/414/318 in mostly vertical long-and-short strokes; deepen side channels and arch with 3799. Add 3051/3011 moss last in ragged downward tufts so it sits on top of the stone. 3. GHOST Use 746 as the main fill, following cloth flow from crown over shoulders and down each fold. Place 318 only in underside creases; stitch 310 eyes/mouth last so the face stays crisp and flat. 4. MOTHS + CELESTIAL GARLAND Build moth wings from body outward with 920, 3854, 3829 and 746; mirror wing-panel direction and reserve 310 for the thinnest separations. Satin-fill moons/stars; keep hanging lines single-strand and delicate. 5. FOLIAGE + LIGHTS Fishbone leaves in 3051/3052, 3011/3012, 3829/3852 from base to tip. Keep branch stems slim. Scatter 745/3854 French knots as low-relief lights, avoiding crowding around the ghost face and large moth. 6. FINAL DETAILS + BLOCKING Add antennae, veins, berry stems and isolated highlights last. Check moth symmetry, tombstone arch, wreath balance and negative space; bury tails away from pale ghost areas. Lightly steam-block from the reverse
