About this Golden Crescent with Thorn Vines Blackberry Wreath and Antique Key embroidery pattern
Golden Crescent with Thorn Vines Blackberry Wreath and Antique Key brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Large central gold crescent wrapped in black thorn vines, hanging antique key, circular blackberry-and-ivy wreath, curling tendrils, leaf sprigs, and small gold stars.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- Transfer and structural frameworkCenter the crescent and key first, then trace the circular wreath and major thorn arcs. Establish 310/3371 thorn spines in 1 strand before fills, leaving clear gaps where vines visibly pass in front of or behind the moon.
- Main focal element Fill the crescent from 3852 shadow through 3829 and 729, reserving 676/746 for the upper-left and inner-rim highlights. Keep long-and- short stitches contouring the crescent so the form reads rounded beneath the crossing thorns.
- Secondary large element Stitch the hanging key after the crescent body is stable. Use 3371 in the deepest recesses, 3852/729 through the shaft and bow, then add 676 in short vertical highlight bars so the key stays visibly dimensional but subordinate to the moon.
- Foliage / supporting motifs Build the wreath stems with 934/3362, then work ivy and leaf sprigs in vein-following fishbone. Place 934 at leaf bases and overlaps, blend through 3362/3363, and finish tips and edge glints with 3013.
- Small decorative details Form blackberries last within each foliage cluster so French knots sit cleanly above the leaves. Use 550 in recesses, 552 across the main fruit mass, and sparing 3740 on top-facing drupelets; add 3829/676 stars after all surrounding stems are complete.
- Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Reinforce selected frontmost thorn sections with 310 couching, sharpen the crescent outline only where contrast is weak, and add the tiniest gold sparks at the end. Block from the reverse with minimal moisture to preserve the raised knot texture and prevent the moon fill from flattening
