About this Golden Jack O Lantern Bats Botanical Wreath embroidery pattern

Golden Jack O Lantern Bats Botanical Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A large golden jack-o'lantern anchors the center, with a black carved face and gray twisted stem. A nearly complete circular botanical wreath surrounds it: mustard-gold, charcoal, gray and deep blue-black leaves; black and gray berries; pale cotton-like buds/seed pods; curling black vines; small cream star flowers and top starbursts. The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

Stitching sequence

  1. PHASES 1. TRANSFER + STRUCTURAL FRAME Transfer the full wreath circle, pumpkin outline and ribs, face, twisted stem, two bats, berry groups, pale pods, top starbursts and lower mushroom cluster. Stitch one-strand 3371/3799 stems and curls first, following the circular arc continuously and leaving the central pumpkin area open. 2. MAIN FOCAL ELEMENT Fill the jack-o'lantern lobe by lobe with 729/3045/3828, directing stitches from shoulder to lower center. Place 420 and a touch of 3371 only in groove recesses and under overlaps. Fill the carved face in 310 after the gold fill, then work the twisted stem in 413/414/318 following its spiral. 3. SECONDARY LARGE ELEMENT Build the wreath foliage from darkest masses outward. Place 3750/930 blue-black leaves and 3799/413 charcoal leaves first, then add 729/3045/3828 mustard-gold leaves. Work fishbone leaves base-to-tip and lobed leaves in short directional sections so every cluster turns naturally around the circle. 4. FLORALS / FOLIAGE / SUPPORTING ELEMENTS Add pale buds/seed pods in 644/822/3865 and their dark calyx details in 3371/3799. Stitch the lower mushrooms with 413/414/318 plus 420/644, keeping stems lighter than caps. Preserve small gaps between adjacent botanicals so the wreath remains airy rather than becoming a solid ring. 5. SMALL DETAIL WORK Stitch the upper-left bat in 310 and the upper-right bat in 3799/413/318, with wing stitches radiating from each body. Add black and gray berries as compact satin circles or knots, leaf veins with one strand, and cream star flowers/top starbursts in 822/3865. Add the tiniest berry stems and mushroom spots last. 6. FINAL DETAILS + BLOCKING Deepen only selected pumpkin grooves, leaf overlaps and berry bases; avoid spreading dark values across the golden pumpkin. Check circular wreath balance, mirrored bat weight and the bottom mushroom anchor. Bury tails away from pale pods, steam from the reverse and block flat so the wreath remains round and the pumpkin stays centered
