About this Jack O Lantern Crescent Moons Autumn Floral Wreath embroidery pattern
Jack O Lantern Crescent Moons Autumn Floral Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A large orange jack-o'lantern with a smiling carved face and tall striped gray-black stem anchors the center. Around it is a loose autumn floral wreath: rust chrysanthemums and roses, cream daisies, muted violet thistle-like blooms, green cone/seed heads, olive and brown leaves, curling branches, red-black-gold berries and tiny starbursts. Two pale crescent moons sit in the upper-left and left-middle areas. Artwork reference - complete composition, undistorted.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- PHASES 1. TRANSFER + STRUCTURAL FRAME Transfer the pumpkin outline/ribs, carved face, tall stem, both crescents, major flower heads, berry groups, leaf clusters and branching framework. Stitch one-strand 3371/934/3011 stems first, following the natural circular sweep and keeping the center pumpkin area open. 2. MAIN FOCAL ELEMENT Fill the jack-o'lantern lobe by lobe with 920/921/3853/3828, directing stitches from shoulder to lower center. Use 3371 sparingly in grooves and under the stem. Fill the carved face in 310 after the orange fill, preserving the pale inner edges, then stripe the stem with 3371 plus cooler light areas. 3. SECONDARY LARGE ELEMENT Build the largest rust chrysanthemums and roses next. Use 920/921 for lit petals, 3777 at petal bases and 3828 where the artwork shifts warmer/taner. Keep petal direction radial; work roses in compact spiral layers so they read as dimensional accents without overtaking the pumpkin. 4. FLORALS / FOLIAGE / SUPPORTING ELEMENTS Add daisies in 822/3865 with 3853 or 3777 centers, violet thistles in 3740/3743, and cone heads in 934/3011/3012. Then place olive/brown leaves in fishbone stitch, base-to-tip, balancing dark greens with warm tan/gold leaves and preserving cream gaps between clusters. 5. SMALL DETAIL WORK Stitch both crescent moons in 822/3865, following each curve and keeping the fill flat. Add black, rust and gold berries as compact satin circles or knots; add one-strand veins, calyxes and fine twig tips. Finish with tiny straight-stitch stars so their points remain delicate and clean. 6. FINAL DETAILS + BLOCKING Deepen only selected pumpkin grooves, rose centers, berry bases and stem recesses. Check that the floral wreath remains asymmetrical but balanced, the two crescents stay light, and the face remains the strongest dark contrast. Bury tails away from pale petals/moons, steam from the reverse and block flat
