About this Moonlit Forest Crystal Ball with Owls Black Cat and Botanical Wreath embroidery pattern
Moonlit Forest Crystal Ball with Owls Black Cat and Botanical Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Central crystal ball on a mauve pedestal containing a twisted moonlit forest, small black cottage, multiple owls and a tiny black cat; long gray- mauve smoke ribbons; outer wreath of dark leaves, thistles, seed pods, berries, gold stars and a crescent moon.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- Transfer and structural frameworkTransfer the crystal-ball circle and base, interior tree silhouettes, cottage, owls, cat, major smoke ribbons, outer wreath branches, seed pods, flowers, stars and crescent. Establish the orb rim in 3799/414 and the main wreath skeleton in 310/3799 first so the composition remains centered and symmetrical.
- Main focal element Build the crystal-ball interior from the darkest trees outward: use 310/3799 for trunks and canopy, 414/318 for receding mist and glass depth, and 420/3828 for cottage structure. Keep owl faces and the tiny cat unstitched until the dark masses are stable, then add 822/3865 facial catches and 676/677 window lights.
- Secondary large element Work the sweeping smoke in 3740/3041/3042 with long-and-short and stem stitches following every S-curve. Keep 3799/414 on the underside and pale 3042/318 on the upper edges so the ribbons appear to pass behind and in front of the globe rather than flattening into one band.
- Foliage / supporting motifs Construct the wreath from dark branches in 310/3799, then add thistle petals in 3740/3041/3042 and seed pods/leaves in 420/3828/437. Direct fishbone leaves from vein to tip and keep the darkest foliage near the outer hoop edge so the globe remains the focal center.
- Small decorative details Add the gold crescent, stars and path lights in 676/677, then work pale owl details, berry clusters and pod highlights in 3864/822/3865. Place French-knot lights in a staggered trail through the forest floor and around the wreath, avoiding evenly spaced dots that would look mechanical.
- Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Refine glass catches with 318/3865, sharpen cottage and cat contours with one strand 310, and add 677 star centers and window sparks last. Confirm the smoke has clear over-under layering, owls remain readable against trees, the cat is distinct, the crystal-ball rim is round, and dark travel threads do not shadow through the pale fabric before blocking from the reverse
