About this Moonlit Lantern with Moths Bee and Botanical Wreath embroidery pattern
Moonlit Lantern with Moths Bee and Botanical Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Central vintage lantern with flame, paired crescents, three moths, one striped bee, circular botanical wreath, rust berries/leaves, stars and bead-like celestial dots.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- Transfer and structural frameworkCenter the lantern first, then mark both crescent moons, the outer wreath arc, and the four insect placements. Establish the lantern skeleton in 3799/898 with 1-strand backstitch, and map the main botanical stems in 3362 before filling any leaves.
- Main focal element Build the lantern from darkest frame recesses outward: 898 and 801 first, then 433 and 738 across the metal bands. Work the flame with 920 around a 712/3820 center, keeping stitch direction vertical and slightly radial so the glow reads as the visual center.
- Secondary large element Fill the top crescent moon in 3865 with short contour-following rows, place 738 on its lower-right edge, and reserve 712 for the inner rim. Repeat the same value logic on the small lower crescent with fewer strands so it remains subordinate to the lantern.
- Foliage / supporting motifs Work the wreath outward from the lower sides toward the top. Use 3362 for structural stems, 3012 and 3052 for mid/dark leaves, and 3053 on pale tips; stitch fishbone leaves from center vein to edge so the wreath stays directional and airy.
- Small decorative details Stitch the mint moth, two pale moths, and the bee after the foliage so their edges stay clean. Use 3053 with 3865/712 on the moths, 3820/780/310 on the bee, then add 920 berries, gold stars and cream knots without overfilling the black negative space.
- Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Sharpen selective lantern corners with 1 strand 310, deepen metal seams with 3799, and add the last 3820 sparks only after all insects are complete. Check that the stars remain crisp, the wreath is balanced, and the black fabric is not distorted; block gently from the reverse
