About this Sleeping Bat Winged Black Cat on Gold Crescent with Spiderwebs embroidery pattern

Sleeping Bat Winged Black Cat on Gold Crescent with Spiderwebs brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: Sleeping bat-winged black cat, gold-and-violet crescent, two spiderwebs, mauve and violet botanical wreath, berries, cream scrolls, and scattered gold stars.

The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. Transfer and structural frameworkCenter the crescent and sleeping winged cat first, then mark the circular wreath, major mauve and violet branches, both spiderwebs, upper leaf sprays, berry clusters, and the largest stars. Establish dark stems with 310/3861 in 1 strand and keep all web anchors light and evenly spaced.
  2. Main focal element Work the sleeping black cat and attached bat wings before the wreath. Fill the cat with 310 in short fur-following rows, soften the muzzle and ear transitions with 3799, then build wing membranes from 154 into 3042/3041 with stitches running from the shoulder joints toward the outer wing ribs. Reserve 3743 for restrained wing highlights.
  3. Secondary large element Stitch the crescent from the darkest outer violet channel toward the warm gold interior. Use 3042 for the cool outer band, 680 in recessed gold lines, 729 for the broad main fill, and 3821 along the inner illuminated rim. Keep the arc smooth behind the cat and place highlights after the wing edges are defined.
  4. Foliage / supporting motifs Build the circular botanical frame from stems outward. Use 3726/3727 for dusty rose oak-like leaves and floral cups, 3042/3041/3743 for violet fronds and buds, and 680/729 for gold leaves. Direct every fishbone leaf from its midrib to the edge so the wreath reads as one flowing ring.
  5. Small decorative details Add spiderwebs, cream scrolls, berry knots, pink seed dots and gold stars only after the large fills are stable. Work webs in 822 with one strand, brighten selected intersections with 3865, build deep berry centers in 154, and keep 3821 star rays longer and brighter than the smaller mauve dots.
  6. Final accents, dimensional details, cleanup, and blocking Return with one strand for the cat face, whiskers, wing ribs, crescent edge corrections, web junctions and tiny botanical veins. Add the palest 3743/3865 accents last, trim reverse-side bulk beneath knot clusters, and lightly block from the reverse so the circular wreath, taut webs and crescent silhouette stay crisp
