About this Sleeping Moon Baby Burgundy Roses Celestial Wreath embroidery pattern

Sleeping Moon Baby Burgundy Roses Celestial Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A cream sleeping baby curls against a large warm tan crescent moon at center. A near-circular wreath of deep burgundy roses, rosebuds, dark teal leaves, black berry clusters and curling vines surrounds it. Small tan moon phases, black celestial discs, stars, gold sparks and scattered burgundy/gold dots complete the symmetrical night-garden composition. The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size

The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.

The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.

A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence

  1. PHASES 1. TRANSFER + STRUCTURAL FRAME Transfer the large crescent, baby silhouette, main rose circles, rosebuds, stem arcs, major leaf axes and moon-phase symbols. Establish crescent and baby contours lightly in 3802/3772, then lay the principal wreath stems in 500/501. Do not add berries, starbursts, tiny dots or tight tendrils yet; those details are easiest to place after the large spacing is fixed. 2. CENTRAL CRESCENT MOON Make the crescent the warm structural cradle. Build 3772 at the outer left and lower edge, blend through 407 and 3773, then finish the inner lit band and tapered tips with 945. Follow the crescent curve continuously so the stitches wrap around the sleeping figure; avoid abrupt horizontal bands or a flat, uniformly tan fill. 3. SLEEPING BABY Fill the head, back, arm, torso and legs in 3865/822, turning stitch direction with each body plane. Keep the face and central highlights mostly 3865, placing 822 beneath the chin, along the back fold and at the tucked limbs. Refine the silhouette and internal divisions in one strand of 3802, then add the two closed black eyes last. 4. ROSES + ROSEBUDS Work the four large roses and surrounding buds from center outward. Use 154 for tight inner shadows, 815 for the main petal mass and 816 for brighter exposed ridges. Keep petals layered and dimensional rather than circularly flat. Add dark teal sepals only after each bud is complete so the green edges remain clean against the burgundy. 5. LEAVES, VINES + BERRY CLUSTERS Complete the wreath with fishbone leaves in 500/501/502/503, following each midrib base-to-tip. Add curling stems in one strand, then place black 310 berry clusters as separate compact knots or padded circles. Add smaller burgundy 815/816 dots between branches, preserving visible fabric gaps around the baby and moon. 6. MOON PHASES + CELESTIAL DETAILS Satin-stitch the small tan moon phases in the 3772/407/3773/945 family, then add black discs, black stars, gold 729 starbursts and sparse gold/burgundy dots. Balance the top and bottom celestial motifs without overfilling the center. Remove transfer residue, check the baby face remains soft, then block from the reverse so roses and berry knots stay raised
