About this Wrapped Crescent Moon Bats Botanical Wreath embroidery pattern
Wrapped Crescent Moon Bats Botanical Wreath brings celestial and botanical details into a hand-embroidery composition. Study the colored design and outline together before choosing which shapes to shade, outline or simplify. The supplied guide identifies these motifs: A large textured ivory crescent dominates the center, bound by looping violet and brown-gray cords. Five black/charcoal bats orbit it. A twig wreath forms the outer circle with lavender, gray and deep-plum leaves plus black berry clusters. Sparse antique-gold stars, knots and delicate constellation figures fill the interior negative space. Artwork reference - complete composition, undistorted.
The colored image is a design reference. Thread, fabric and your stitch choices will affect the finished result. Preserve the open spaces around the smaller motifs and test difficult fills on a spare piece of fabric before stitching the main design.

Choose your hoop size
The outline pages are labeled for 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 inch hoops. Measure the printed design before transfer, because printer margins and fit-to-page settings can affect its dimensions.
The stitch guide recommends 8" / 20 cm HOOP for this design.
A larger version gives fine contours and clustered motifs more room. Select the size that preserves the details you want to stitch.

Stitching sequence
- PHASES 1. TRANSFER + FRAME Transfer the crescent, all crossing cords, five bat silhouettes, full wreath circle, main leaf/berry groupings and the largest stars/constellations. Establish the outer wreath in one-strand 3021/3787 stem stitch and lightly outline the moon. Leave tiny dots, small knots and delicate constellation connectors for later. 2. TEXTURED CRESCENT Fill the moon first so it becomes the dimensional focal anchor. Work 3866/822/739 in directional long-and-short stitch following the crescent arc, keeping the inner curve slightly darker and the outer ridge brighter. Add only sparse 3822 glints. Avoid packing the fill so tightly that the fabric puckers. 3. WRAPPED CORDS Layer the cord system over the finished moon. Use 3740/3041 for violet loops and 3021/3787 for neutral loops. Stitch each band continuously where possible, then resolve crossings deliberately as over-under passes. The wrapped cords should read raised and graphic without obscuring the moon texture. 4. BATS Outline all bats with one strand, then fill with short directional stitches. Use 310 for the deepest silhouettes and 3799 for softer charcoal bats. Work from body outward along each wing segment and preserve small fabric notches at scalloped edges. Keep bats flatter and simpler than the moon. 5. WREATH FOLIAGE + BERRIES Add leaves around the established twig ring: 154/3740 for deep plum, 3041/3042 for mauve-lavender, and 3743/415 for pale cool leaves. Use fishbone stitch aligned to each midrib. Finish black berry clusters in 310 with compact knots or padded dots, keeping the grouping asymmetric and natural. 6. CELESTIAL DETAIL + BLOCKING Add 729/3822 gold stars and knots, then pale 415/3743 starbursts and the fine constellation lines in 415/3042. Place the smallest dots last so spacing stays airy. Erase transfer residue, check that no branch or cord has tightened the ground fabric, and block from the reverse over a soft towel
